Damascus Countdown by Joel C. Rosenberg is an excellent thriller. When I received this book I didn't realize it was #3 in a series, so it took a few chapters to figure out all the characters, but it did work as a stand alone novel as well. I was able to figure out the plot and characters fairly quickly. However, I do now want to read the first two books! Damascus Countdown is huge, hefty book (my favorite kind!) with close to 500 pages. It is jam packed with action and adventure and a total page turner. You won't want to put it down. It deals with many issues currently in the news, so it feels very realistic. I highly recommend this book. I received a copy of this book from Tyndale in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own. Suspenseful and riveting. Edge-of-your-seat intense. One certain to fight to hang in there with because it was well worth it. Reads like the makings of a really good television drama show. Only wish I read faster. Although, in the last 20 some last of the chapters, I did read in a blur, wanting to hurry and see the events unfold as quickly as possible. Exciting and easy to follow and understand. Engaging. Eerily frightening. Surprisingly heartfelt, compassionate, emphatic, and sincere but not too emotional. Very detailed and specific, but not overly done. Believable, realistic and likely. Encourages the heart to open up about God's overall possibilities for us. A book I am grateful to have jumped into!
