Slathbogs gold was a very good book, although I was really confused by the way it flowed. It is a very interesting adventurous book being that Alex Taylor, the main character and his crew went out on an adventure to kill an ancient dragon named Slathbog. Along the way on their adventure Alex realizes he has wizardly powers. He and his crew fight there way along a long long ride to Slathbog and defeat him. Remember when you first read Harry Potter? What were you thinking? Remember when you first read The Hobbit or The Lord of the Rings? What were your first thoughts? I believe that this book was much like those first times. I had great faith when I started this book. Even though a friend whom I borrowed this from told me that it started out slow for him so beware. But this book didn't! I grew in anticipation with every new page. I wanted to keep reading this and keep Alex in good spirits. This book was great! The writing, I first suspected it to be more like a middle school writing but it was not! The writing was fresh and developed. The characters were smart and knowing. The descriptions were full of words that helped me to imagine where they were. I thought up their accents and their faces. I cannot wait to read more of this series. Language was clean and efficient and not dirty. The magic wasn't darkly illustrated as are some other wizard books can be. Just all around a good book for any age and to read over and over again without being embarrassed like you could be while reading some books. Read it!!
very interesting... lots of attention required, it had me on the edge of my seat!
